The Clinical Practice Specialist (CPS) is a professional nurse, an expert practitioner in nursing and a member of the nursing leadership team who implements the mission and philosophy of Northeast Hospital Corporation. The CPS promotes safe care for patients by keeping patient safety as a focus of all unit operations and clinical practices. The principle role of this position is to ensure that clinical practice is consistent with standards and evidence-based policies and procedures. The CPS serves as a consultant, teacher and role model to the emergency services nursing staff. The CPS contributes to the delivery of patient care through development and support of nursing staff, collaboration with patients and their families and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The CPS is the nursing champion to the medical staff and collaborates with the highest degree of competency in the area of nursing research and nursing professional practice. As an expert in clinical practice, the CPS functions in the role domains of clinical practice, consultation, education, research / clinical outcomes and population management drawn from the highest standards of evidenced-based benchmarks and practice. The CPS supervises clinical practice of the staff, and empowers nursing staff through education, consultation, clinical support and the development of supportive programs and standards of care.
