Job Summary: The RN is a registered professional nurse who is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities to identified age specific groups, utilizing the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluation) in achieving the goals of the nursing department. The RN models the philosophy and Mission Statement of the hospital. The RN provides quality customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all and adheres to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. The perinatal RN demonstrates competence in the assessment and identification of the needs of the childbearing family and appropriately communicates and functions within a multidisciplinary team. During periods of low census, is able to work in other areas as needed after appropriate orientation.
Education: A graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current license as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of California. Current BLS for health care providers. Current NRP certification or completion within 3 months of employment. Current S.T.A.B.L.E. certification or completed within 6 months of employment. Current ACLS certification or completed within 3 months of employment. Completion of basic, Intermediate AWHONN fetal monitoring course with bi-annual participation of an AWHONN. Advanced Fetal
Monitoring program or initiated within 6 months of employment and completed within 1 year.
Experience: Minimum 2 years Labor and Delivery experience required.
