This newly created position is integral to our commitment of providing outstanding care within the Labor & Delivery (OB) Triage area. The successful candidate is required to be a Registered Nurse, with a keen understanding of triage algorithms to assess acuity and assign priority of care in gynecological to obstetric patients, with validated leadership experience. The incumbent will be responsible for leading and overseeing the OB triage area ensuring the smooth and efficient obstetrical process. This includes implementing structures, policies, protocols and maintaining safe and effective practices. The role demands a strong leader who can lead a team, collaborate interdepartmentally, to ensure our standards of care remains a top priority. Clear communication by this Nurse Leader is essential within OB, Emergency departments and hospital ancillary services.
24-hour accountability and responsibility for excellence both clinically and operationally is a must. There are approximately 23 FTE's designated to the space, and we serve approximately 1,500 patients per month. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Women's & Children's and is located at our Newark, DE campus.

Manages nursing practice and care delivery in designated unit.
Promotes the autonomy of the nursing staff, encouraging independent decision making and problem solving.
Supports and facilitates a culture of nursing professional governance on unit.
Formulates and effectively executes innovative leadership strategies to promote excellence.
Responsible for staffing and scheduling, allocating paid time off to meet staffing needs for unit census. .
Maintains position control in a cost-effective manner.
Interviews and hires potential employees, assuring the technical and professional development of staff.
Coaches, disciplines and evaluates staff according to CCHS policy.
