Delegates responsibilities to auxiliary and obstetrics staff nurses; supervises preparation and maintenance of obstetrics patient clinical records, and writes reports on obstetrics room staff performance and services rendered. Being a Head Nurse - Obstetrics maintains pre-set inventory standards for solutions, supplies, medicines and equipment, and keeps track of narcotics. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Job Description:
The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery and Obstetrics must demonstrate clinical competence by utilizing the nursing process. The RN is responsible for assessing and identifying patient problems/needs, establishing a plan of care, implementing interventions, and evaluating and revising the patient plan of care based on patient progress. This position requires comfort in all aspects of delivery and aftercare, from check-in to discharge. The Speare OB Unit manages high-risk pregnancy management, including preterm labor, high blood pressure, diabetes, VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean Section), and prenatal testing.

This is a critical care hospital position, and the traveler must be able to work in labor and delivery, as well as mother-baby, postpartum, and nursery units. Well-rounded traveler RNs who are comfortable from check-in to discharge of mom and baby are required.
