Head Nurse - Obstetrics directs nursing service activities for assigned patients in the delivery room and birthing units. Delegates responsibilities to auxiliary and obstetrics staff nurses; supervises preparation and maintenance of obstetrics patient clinical records, and writes reports on obstetrics room staff performance and services rendered. Being a Head Nurse - Obstetrics maintains pre-set inventory standards for solutions, supplies, medicines and equipment, and keeps track of narcotics. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Additionally, Head Nurse - Obstetrics requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - Obstetrics manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Nurse - Obstetrics typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     QUALIFICATIONS

    • Minimum one year of RN experience
    • One year Obstetrics & Gynecology experience within the last two years as an RN
    • Have an active RN license or be willing to obtain a Registered Nurse license in IL
    • RN degree from an accredited registered nurse program
    • BLS and all relevant Obstetrics & Gynecology/department-specific certifications required

    Responsibilities

To apply as a travel RN with us, you must have an active Professional Registered Nursing License or be willing to obtain one in the state you’re applying to, evidence of a minimum of one year RN work experience, and evidence of at least one year of Obstetrics & Gynecology experience within the last two years. In addition, you must have a Bachelor’s or Associate degree in nursing from an accredited registered nursing program, as well as a Basic Life Support (BLS) and all other relevant specialty/department certifications.
