Head Nurse - Obstetrics directs nursing service activities for assigned patients in the delivery room and birthing units. Delegates responsibilities to auxiliary and obstetrics staff nurses; supervises preparation and maintenance of obstetrics patient clinical records, and writes reports on obstetrics room staff performance and services rendered. Being a Head Nurse - Obstetrics maintains pre-set inventory standards for solutions, supplies, medicines and equipment, and keeps track of narcotics. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Additionally, Head Nurse - Obstetrics requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - Obstetrics manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Seeking experienced Perioperative RN
The role of the perioperative nurse is to provide care for patients before, during, and after surgery, surgical procedures, and endoscopic procedures. The operating room nurse job description also includes the role of patient educator, circulating nurse, and/or scrub nurse potentially with additional training. Circulating OR nurses work within the operating suite but outside of the sterile field; scrub OR nurse handle and prepare operating instruments and equipment within the sterile field. To work as a scrub OR nurse requires additional training as stated above. Pre-op and Post-op nurse work in the PACU area.
