Head Nurse - Obstetrics directs nursing service activities for assigned patients in the delivery room and birthing units. Delegates responsibilities to auxiliary and obstetrics staff nurses; supervises preparation and maintenance of obstetrics patient clinical records, and writes reports on obstetrics room staff performance and services rendered. Being a Head Nurse - Obstetrics maintains pre-set inventory standards for solutions, supplies, medicines and equipment, and keeps track of narcotics. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Additionally, Head Nurse - Obstetrics requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - Obstetrics manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Nurse - Obstetrics typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Responsibilities:

    • Provide comprehensive medical care and preventive health services to patients, from physical examinations to ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests.
    • Perform examinations, diagnose illnesses, initiate and manage treatment plans.
    • Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team and discuss the care and treatment of patients.
    • Conduct patient education, counseling, and health promotion activities.
    • Document patient encounters in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with medical practice standards.

    Qualifications:

    • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Arizona
    • Detail-oriented skills to provide accurate care and document patient records
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
    • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to healthcare
    • Proficient in the use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system
