Industrial Fabrication Services (IFS) in Lake Crystal, Minnesota is a custom metal fabrication facility that builds metal components for many bulk material-handling industries. Currently IFS employs about 100 people in a 75,000 square foot facility. IFS is located 12 miles southwest of Mankato, Minnesota, just off Highway 60, in the Lake Crystal Industrial Park. From this location IFS ships products throughout the continental USA, Canada, Mexico, and worldwide. IFS works primarily with general contractors, custom equipment manufacturers, mining companies, agricultural processors, and power generation facilities.
POSITION SUMMARY:
A Blaster/General Laborer at IFS is a great opportunity for individuals looking to gain and expand their experience using a variety of equipment and machinery. The ideal candidate will have excellent work ethic, a positive attitude, drive to learn new skills, and willingness to help wherever needed. All levels of experience will be considered for this position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Responsible for prepping steel in blast booth prior to being painted
2. Operate angle grinders, sanders, and other tools for deburring parts and preparing parts for welding operations
3. Read shop drawings and understand dimensions for sawing, torching, or cutting
4. Assisting with product assembly and tiling
5. General housekeeping in shop area
6. Assist on Plasma table and Press Brake
7. Ensure safe operation of equipment
8. Other duties as assigned by supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience using electrical, pneumatic, or manual hand tools and measuring equipment
2. Knowledge of safety standards
3. Attention to detail
4. Welding and fabrication experience is a plus but not required (training provided as needed)
5. Proficient in English
6. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test/physical
