Head Golf Professional is responsible for the overall day-to-day operations and services of the golf course, including the golf shop, tournaments, practice facilities, and cart fleet. Ensures golf facilities are properly maintained. Being a Head Golf Professional coordinates marketing programs to promote the facility's services to potential customers and oversees member events and daily play. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Head Golf Professional requires an active Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) membership. Typically reports to a golf course general manager. The Head Golf Professional manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Golf Professional typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. QUALIFICATIONS:
Employment in the school where the sport is being offered is preferred but other qualified candidates in or out of the system will be considered.
Demonstrated interest and aptitude for performing the responsibilities.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may deem appropriate and acceptable.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for achievement in the sport being played.
Work cooperatively with the Director of Athletics to develop a schedule of interscholastic contests.
Recommend purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate and support it with accurate inventory.
Maintain necessary paperwork involving program as detailed by the Director of Athletics.
Oversee safety conditions of facility, field or area in which contest and practices are being held.
Work with the Director of Athletics, Principal, and teaching and guidance staff to help students maintain eligibility for participation in the sport.
Develop and encourage sportsmanlike behavior at all times and enforce rules established for maintaining such standards by individual students.
Such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Athletics and/or Principal.
