    JOB SUMMARY:

    Minot State University invites applications for a Head Coach position in the growing Minot State Esports program. The position requires working knowledge of popular collegiate esports titles (Valorant, League of Legends, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and others) and dedication to building and sustaining a thriving competitive gaming community on campus. The coach will organize teams, schedule and lead practices/matches, recruit new students to the program, support student retention and academic success efforts, lead multimedia content production, and interface with community partners. This is a 12-month, full-time/benefitted position with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024.

    Duties

    Along with the esports director and other team members, Head Coach duties may include (but are not limited to):

    • Identify and recruit students to compete on varsity esports teams (experience in K-12 education a plus for recruitment);
    • Support student well-being through promoting academic success, wellness, and community engagement;
    • Schedule and manage all team VOD reviews, practices, matches, and travel;
    • Oversee development of esports content (video, social media) to promote the program;
    • Manage program/team budgets;
    • Lead campus and community outreach efforts to support esports initiatives;
    • Explore and implement fundraising opportunities through sponsorships and donations;
    • Leverage program data to inform coaching, strategy development, and program growth.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    A bachelor's degree is required in a field related to the position. Candidates with experience in K-12 or collegiate esports, education, multimedia production (including game design/development), data science, coaching and/or community outreach are especially encouraged to apply.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Preference will be given for those who have expertise in areas related to collegiate esports, including knowledge of multiple competitive titles, experience working with/recruiting K-12 students, knowledge of coaching and higher education practices, media production, and data-driven decision making.
