SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: This position manages the AAFP Library, which maintains a collection of print and electronic journals, reference materials, and multiple database holdings, allowing users to access relevant information concerning clinical procedures, disease entities, and scientific and business research. This position partners with individuals throughout the AAFP on various projects to ensure adherence to the following: evidence-based biomedical and scientific standards; best practices of content organization and retrieval; National Library of Medicine indexing requirements; and current copyright and publishing guidelines. This position provides expert research, reference, and consultation services-including literature searches, complex research requests, citation validation, document delivery, and knowledge management to AAFP staff and members. Other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree or equivalent work experience plus at least two years related experience. Experience working in historical repositories such as libraries, archives and museums preferred. Procures, catalogs, and processes all Library print and electronic materials. The ability to manage and negotiate contracts and licensing agreements for the Academy’s periodicals, print and electronic journals, and database subscriptions. Familiarity with professional standards, principles, and terminology used in archival, museum, and library repositories. Experience with Taxonomy, Controlled Vocabulary, Content tagging, Metadata, XML, and Project Management preferred.
