JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision performs complex cataloging and classification of new material in the Library by creating a new bibliographic record or by editing cataloging copy from the department's relational electronic database.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Create electronic database records for new bibliographic material from the point of order to the addition of the new material to the Library's collection utilizing a complex search strategy and indexing the material into the existing database.
• Maintain bibliographic control of the Library's relational electronic database utilizing a complex ongoing routine of database maintenance activities; also includes the ability to complete special projects designed to enhance user access to the Library's database.
• Execute complex search strategies to locate records in an array of online databases, and to import records efficiently into the library's database.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Use digital scanner and photo editing software to create attractive cover art for individual parts of video sets.
• Contribute to the development of standards for cataloging and processing materials in emerging formats.
• Collect and report statistics regarding departmental productivity.
