    If you join our company, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our Retail Garden Center and Seasonal Departments (Clothing, workwear, boots, Gift Dept) at our Wellington location. We are offering an opportunity to prosper in a year-round position that will allow you to lead in both the Garden Center and in our Clothing/Gift departments. We have a long tenured GC/Seasonal manager who is one of the best in the business and you would be collaborating directly with her to continue our growth in these departments. This role requires a strategic thinker with proven leadership skills, a customer first mindset, and a passion for servant leadership.

    Successful candidates must possess:

    • Proven experience in garden center or retail management, with a focus on seasonal products.
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Knowledge of gardening supplies, plants, and outdoor living products.
    • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
    • A servant leadership style is necessary, you must be willing to collaborate with your team to fit into our culture.
    • Ability to work a flexible retail schedule including weekends.
    • Eagerness to learn new things.
    • Commitment to excellence.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Minimum high school diploma, GED, or equivalent education. A college degree is preferred, but experience and a positive attitude is paramount.
    • Knowledge of Retail computer systems. We utilize Epicor as our operating system, MS Word and Excel are a plus.
    • Ability to reach overhead, bend, squat, kneel and carry products to perform and cover all customer support duties.
    • Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screening.

    Responsibilities for Garden Center/Seasonal Managers:

    • Drive customer service excellence to every aspect of the store, including store appearance, display of merchandise, product placement, store layout and selling procedures.
    • Ensure strategic goals and sales targets of the store are met by maximizing sales and gross profit, controlling expenses, and managing inventory in your depts.
    • Help with the selection, on-boarding, and development of a highly effective team of individuals.
    • Define a clear vision and strategy to communicate expectations for your depts.
    • Manage administrative tasks to support the overall performance of your departments.
    • Monitor stock and inventory and perform quality assurance of merchandise on a regular basis.
    • Work closely with our ecommerce and marketing team to promote key products and help complete online transactions.
    • Collaborate closely with our local communities to ensure we do our part to help our friends and neighbors prosper.

    Job requirements and benefits:

    • This is a salary position that is based on 40 hours per week.
    • You will be required to work every other weekend.
    • Your schedule will not change much once established as we would like to make sure you are able to develop a good work/life balance.
    • Off most National Holidays
    • Starting salary will range from $30,000 to $45,000 per year depending on ability and experience levels.

    Schedule:

    • 8-hour shift
    • Day shift
    • Monday to Friday
    • Evening shift. Our Stores Close by 7pm weekdays and 5pm on the weekends.
    • Weekend availability
    • You will be working every Saturday during the spring and early summer garden center season as well as Mid November through Christmas for clothing and gifts. Other than those periods you will work M-F.

    Supplemental pay types:

    • Bonus pay.
