Overview:
The Retail Operations Manager (ROM) is a "boots on the ground” visible leader who oversees many of the daily operations of our retail store. They are a passionate and strategic leader who is focused on creating a great team member work environment while driving a great guest experience.The ROM uses their business acumen to develop and implement systems that enhance the guest experience while driving sales and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:
- Leads by example by treating team members and guests the way they would want to be treated.
- Limits time in meetings and is actively on the floor, engaging with team members, supervisors, and customers.
- Leads with empathy and intentional listening understanding the needs of team members - their ideas, feedback, and challenges.
- Identifies and helps remove barriers and bottlenecks that hinder organizational outcomes. Whether this is communication, poor processes, or limited resources, they strive to create a thriving environment.
- Strategically involved in the hire and training of a team focused on a great guest experience.
- Has an emphasis on the personal development of their team members, particularly their supervisors and/or managers.
- Embraces a retail lifestyle and regularly works Saturdays.
Operational Excellence:
- Works to ensure safe, smooth, and efficient daily operations in areas of responsibility.
- Works in close contact and in regular communication with relevant merchandise managers (buyers) to focus on sales and merchandising needs.
- Utilizes and schedules any team members in the area of responsibility to best serve customer needs, if even in the moment.
- Is a first line of support for resolving customer complaints and issues, including those that come through guest interaction software. The Retail Operations Manager can delegate these issues to the relevant department or supervisor whenever possible to resolve issues at the lowest level and as quickly as possible.
- Locks up and works at least one evening per week.
Business Acumen:
- Understands and regularly uses sales (or other relevant) data to inform daily decisions.
- Tracks and reviews KPIs to identify areas of strength and potential improvement.
- Ensures that stocking performance indicators (such as the Outs Report) are met.
- Ensures that relevant reports are completed in a timely manner and objectives are being met.
- Works with their relevant supervisor(s) and/or managers to ensure efficient processes and cross training/learning development are achieved.
Professional Development:
- Meet with the Divisional Manager regularly intentionally working to improve areas of responsibility.
- Attend manager meetings, necessary trade shows and professional events as assigned by the Divisional Manager
- Willing to pursue and/or agree to training involving sales, customer service and relevant department products

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

- Retail sales - Ability to use appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to gain acceptance of a product, service, or an idea. Minimum of 3-5 years of retail operation experience.
- Customer service oriented - Ability to take care of customers’ needs while following company procedures.
- Communication skills - Strong oral and written communication skills required.
- Organizational skills - Time and material management skills. Ability to keep accurate records, data, paperwork. Ability to attend to daily, monthly, and yearly calendar goals. Ability to focus on goals to obtain a predetermined result.
- Problem-Solving ability - Ability to deal with others in a variety of situations, control emotions, and work under stressful situations while implementing viable solutions.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Education: High School graduate or GED required; some college-level coursework preferred.
- Computer skills - Working knowledge of computers required.
- Language skills: Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and communicate effectively using the English language. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, guests, and the general public.
- Physical requirements: Ability to stand or by on his or her feet for up to 10 hours per day. Ability to carry up to 50 pounds occasionally, less than 50 pounds frequently. Walking, sitting, and climbing ladders is often required.
