Engineering Director
Manage, mentor, train and direct mechanical engineering, virtual design, and fabrication teams. Plan, develop, and implement systems and procedures to improve the quality and efficiency of each department and expand the company’s overall mechanical engineering, design, and fabrication abilities.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
1. Introduce and maintain specifications, standards, design guides, and work processes to match ongoing needs.
2. Plan, direct, and coordinate all technical and operational activities within the group.
3. Plan for, staff, train and evaluate senior department personnel. Define position functions, accountabilities and levels of authority.
4. Plan and analyze new projects. Establish schedules and project parameters.
5. Develop procedures and assign personnel to accomplish objectives. Set clear, meaningful measures to ensure compliance.
6. Develop and review project performance metrics pertaining to estimating, scheduling, material quantities, man hours, quality issues and key milestones. Establish leading indicator metrics that measure and predict performance.
7. Develop standards, methods, processes and procedures for reviewing, evaluating and inspecting energy efficiency projects and systems.
8. Ensure the collection of data and information regarding technical and economic factors, including physical, chemical, environmental, maintenance, operational, regulatory, and constructability.
9. Conduct and participate in project reviews and audits.
10. Identify, utilize and transfer ‘lessons learned’, best practices, and key knowledge among preconstruction and project management and throughout the engineering group.
11. Conduct periodic department reviews to update design and process standards based on value engineering.
12. Provide advanced technical guidance to designers and engineers as needed.
13. Assist with developing engineering and technical presentations.
14. Drive technical excellence. Nurture a culture of creativity, safety, and quality.
15. Perform additional assignments as requested/needed.
