JOB DESCRIPTION:

• There is high speed digital to power supply designs; a wide variety. It isn t like you are designing a new power supply every week.
• We need someone with core competency to work on a variety of things.
• Power electronics up to a few hundred watts.
• Voltages are all over the place: DC to DC conversion, offline power supplies, anywhere from 20 to a few hundred watts
• Our team handles all of the hardware, it doesn t matter what type of design it is, if it is hardware our team is responsible for it
• These projects are smaller and we are making incremental changes to existing power supply and we have to start testing earlier and that s where they have to be onsite to help with the testing
• The Senior Electronics Hardware Engineer will develop electronic hardware for high performance, real-time controls and protective relays used for smart grid applications in the electrical power distribution industry. The Senior Electronics Hardware Engineer will collaborate with other Hardware Engineers as well as systems engineering, software engineering, and QA to design and implement features for power distribution products. The position will be part of a multi-disciplined engineering team (software, hardware, and test)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Design electronic circuits and sub-systems for power distribution system intelligent electronic devices, including power supplies and analog and digital circuits
• Design peripheral interfaces for microprocessors and microcontrollers
• Participate in establishing design requirements and specifications
• Implement test set ups and perform design verification testing
• Perform troubleshooting to identify design issues and test set up issues
• Participate in system interface design activities and resolution of integration issues
• Participate in tasks related to new product development including planning, task estimation, design, design verification, peer review, integration and release
• Collaborate with external and internal customers, such as Marketing, Service, Operations and other engineering teams throughout the product development life cycle
• Assist Lead Engineers in design reviews
• Plan and execute tasks in collaboration with the product team to ensure project objectives are met
• Perform tasks per team processes and guidelines and provide recommendations for continuous process improvement

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 2 years experience working on embedded hardware systems
• Strong understanding of power electronics
• Experience with EMI testing and troubleshooting and designing for EMI robustness
• Strong understanding of electronic component specifications and device selection
• Experience with and linear and switching power supply designs
• Experience with embedded electronic peripherals
• Experience with printed circuit board layout design
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout ECAD tools
