Hard Tile Setter jobs in Illinois
Hard Tile Setter covers tabletops or other surfaces with mosaic tile squares to form decorative design. May require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Being a Hard Tile Setter may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Hard Tile Setter relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Substrate preparation and waterproofing
- Setting underlayment/floor heat
- Accurately interpret job sheets
- Set tile materials in accordance with proper industry practices and procedures
- Cut and modify tiles to achieve proper layout/fit
- Execute job completion punch lists
- Grout and perform final inspection
- Work with Tile Foreman and Tile coordinator to ensure on time job completion
- Accurately log job hours
Education | Experience | Skills | Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Clean driving record-ability to commute
- Ability to lift, push, pull or drag 50-75lbs
- Knowledge of Schluter products is preferred
- Able to work independently
- Punctual-excellent attendance
- Experience setting a wide variety of materials, marble, ceramic, porcelain, mosaics, stone slab accessories.
- Familiar setting in high end residential homes
- Able to efficiently navigate the North Shore of Illinois and city of Chicago

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
