Sunset Farm is a USDA Certified Organic Vegetable and Flower farm located in Naugatuck, Connecticut. We are a diversified operation, growing over 100 varieties of vegetables and cut flowers on four acres. Sunset Farm has a 50 share CSA, several wholesale accounts, donates to local food pantries, and attends the following markets: Trumbull Farmers Market, Monroe Farmers Market, Ridgefield Farmers Market, CitySeed Edgewood Park Farmers Market, and the Naugatuck Farmers Market.

We are seeking a part time farmer to join our crew of four!

Responsibilities:

• -With proper training and support, engage in all aspects of production including seeding, planting, weeding, distributing CSAs, harvesting, washing & packing, as well as attending farmers markets and interacting with customers.
• -Drive a market van to and from farmers markets.
• -Adhere to the National Organic Program standards in all aspects of production, including record keeping.

Requirements:

• -One year of experience on a vegetable farm is strongly preferred
• -18 years old
• -Valid Driver's License
• -Ability weed, plant, harvest, and pack produce to high quality standards
• -Able to lift about 50 lbs
• -Ability to operate independently after training and support are offered
• -Ability to manage time and have a sense of urgency
• -Ability to communicate effectively with other crew members
• -Ability to log harvest and production data for record keeping
• -Ability to use sales software and provide customer service

Position:

• Part time, 2-3 days per week, May through October. Potential for more hours or winter work as the season progresses.

Compensation:

• -$17-$19/hour depending on experience
• -Weekly Produce
• -Tool Stipend ($100)
• -Cash bonus in October after completing the season
