Position Title: Underwriting Manager

Qualifications: must have, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree.

Experience and Certification:

• Minimum of 7 years of experience managing an underwriting project of similar size and scope.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in underwriting flood insurance policies.
• CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) certified or Associate in National Flood Insurance (ANFI) designated.
• Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience.

Responsibilities: The Underwriting Manager is a pivotal role responsible for leading and overseeing NFIP Direct's underwriting activities, ensuring precision, compliance with regulations, and effective risk assessment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Underwriting Operations: Lead and oversee all facets of NFIP Direct's underwriting activities, ensuring adherence to industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Project Management: Utilize extensive experience to manage and lead underwriting projects of similar size and scope, ensuring successful outcomes.
• Flood Insurance Policies: Leverage 5 years of experience in underwriting flood insurance policies to guide and enhance underwriting practices, ensuring accurate risk assessment.
• Certification: Maintain CPCU or ANFI certification, demonstrating expertise in underwriting practices and commitment to continuous professional development.
• Supervision and Leadership: Provide effective leadership and supervision to underwriting teams, fostering a collaborative work environment that encourages excellence.
• Performance Monitoring: Implement performance monitoring systems to track and assess the performance of underwriting teams, ensuring operational effectiveness.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices in all underwriting activities.
• Reporting and Analysis: Generate and analyze reports on underwriting performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective measures.

Qualities and Skills:

• 7 years of proven experience managing underwriting projects of similar size and scope.
• 5 years of experience in underwriting flood insurance policies.
• CPCU certified or ANFI designated.
• Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree as a minimum requirement.
