Group Underwriter reviews and analyzes risk characteristics on insurance applications, renewals, and change requests. Utilizes underwriting guidelines, rules, standards, and levels of authority to accept, reject, or mitigate risk for applications and determine appropriate premiums, limits, and coverages. Being an Group Underwriter calculates renewal rates. Ensures that underwriting activities comply with all industry and governmental regulations. Additionally, Group Underwriter may coordinate with field agents to collect or clarify information or decisions. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Group Underwriter work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Position is based at 4600 SE 29TH ST, Del City, OK, however, incumbent can be located anywhere within the Arvest 4 State Footprint (AR, KS, MO, OK).
Position is Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm with the ability to work additional hours as needed.

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the SBU manager, the SBU Underwriter evaluates, underwrites and approves small business loan requests, which include owner-occupied real estate, working capital, equipment, acquisitions and loan requests that fall under the defined description of small business lending. The incumbent reviews business and personal financial statements along with tax returns of potential borrowers and their guarantors to determine the creditworthiness; approves or declines transactions based on current policies and guidelines. The SBU Underwriter serves as a resource to the frontline lending staff and other shared services divisions related to underwriting analysis and escalates policy exception requests to management for review. The incumbent works to meet team Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) and maintains a working knowledge of departmental procedures, forms and the Arvest Loan Policy.
