    As a Program Manager A, you will be responsible for being a key member of the team that will be responsible for oversight of the day-to-day technical process and general operations of the loan program, file review, and financial literacy initiatives, including default management prevention initiatives, in cooperation with the leadership of the financial aid office.

    In this role, you will serve as an advocate for individuals of historically oppressed communities, by supporting and enhancing a sense of belonging; while also collaborating with the Financial Aid Team to build inclusive practices that remove barriers for students while still maintaining compliance with all financial aid regulations at the federal, state, and institutional levels.

    Salary Range for this position is $49,337-$64,713 annually, with incremental step increases to the range maximum, as outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

    This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by the Washington Federation of State Employees.

    What you will be working on:

    Student Loan Program Integrity and Financial Literacy Education Management

    • Administer and manage the Student Loan Program Integrity and Financial Literacy Education program.
    • Provide complex counseling and assistance to students and staff when interpreting specific federal and state regulations unique to the functions of the financial aid programs, including entrance and exit counseling.
    • Review and analyze applications received via the electronic data exchange software from the Department of Education. Interpret technical data provided electronically and apply data to specific policies and procedures and regulation in assessing needs for financial aid.
    • Maintain expertise and up-to-date knowledge of all federal and state regulations for financial aid programs so the department can plan and react positively to constantly changing Federal, State and institutional regulations and guidance.
    • Support various Financial Literacy efforts on campus, to include notification to students and staff, tracking of office hosted events and services.

    Financial Aid Advising and File Review

    • Provide extensive financial aid counseling and advice to students and analyze any completed problems, give probably outcomes/solutions or recommend alternative course of action to complete their financial aid application process.
    • Review and analyze specific documents for unusual problems specific to program policies and procedures in determining financial aid eligibility.
    • Track and monitor student files for accuracy and completion in accordance with program practices, goals, and established deadlines.
    • Complete final review of student files for accuracy and compliance with established state and federal guidelines for awarding student files.
    • Complete required forms for Department of Homeland Security to resolve issues regarding citizenship status according to federal regulations.


    What you bring as a candidate:
    (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)

    • Bachelor’s Degree -OR- Associates Degree and 2 years’ experience in higher education setting, that indicates successful performance of the essential functions of this position.
    • Three (3) years of experience with financial aid awarding, file review, reconciliation, and program oversight.
    • Demonstrated commitment to serving a diverse population of students and a history of working to remove barriers for historically marginalized communities and students.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of financial aid programs, regulations, and rules pertaining to the exercise of professional judgment
    • Demonstrated knowledge of systems used for processing, communicating, and overseeing student eligibility
    • Demonstrated knowledge of financial aid processing dates that determine when tasks must be completed

    Ability to perform a range of physical motions, exerting up to 50 pounds; lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; standing, walking, sitting for long periods, kneeling, squatting, and stooping; and traversing up and down stairs.
