    SUMMARY

    The position of Branch Manager is responsible for managing a full service branch; develops new deposit and loan business; ensures all activities run smoothly and efficiently for assigned branch; provides leadership, training and supervision to personnel within his or her branch; provides a superior level of customer relations and service within the branch and the Bank; and ensures compliance with Bank policies and procedures. The position of Branch Manager is responsible for attaining established Bank and branch goals through active participation in sales management and officer call programs. Tracks and analyzes banking economic trends and makes recommends to senior management. Performs supervisory duties of branch and managerial staff, and coordinates managerial staff coverage within the branch. May perform duties in the absence of Regional Manager and other such management capacities. This employee must maintain compliance within audit, internal controls, security, BSA, and CTR standards.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES


    1. Provides supervision and support to all managerial areas of the branch where service or assistance is needed; oversees activities of managers and other branch personnel; opens and closes the branch.
    2. Reinforces the application of superior customer service through his or her own example along with appropriate follow through with involved customers and employees; conducts specific periodic meetings and presentations on this topic with all managers and staff members.
    3. Assures audit compliance and procedure quality control throughout the branch and recommends and initiates corrective actions; conducts unannounced audits of all branch cash funds and cash limits; ensures that the branch is in compliance with established Bank policies, procedures and state and federal regulations.
    4. Responds to inquiries or refers inquiries to the appropriate department or person, and exhibiting the necessary follow through with customers and/or staff involved.
    5. Contributes to the overall profitability of the branch; implements costs controls, income generation, and branch marketing efforts; monitors expenses to ensure compliance with budget.
    6. Consistently applies superior decision making techniques pertaining to inquiries, approvals, requests as they apply to existing policies and procedures, keeping within assigned approval limits and using these instances as learning tools for employee development.
    7. Participates and directs day-to-day operations for the branch; approves large deposits and withdrawals; reviews and acts on daily reports; and ensures branch is maintained in a neat, clean and attractive manner - recommends redecoration or major repair or redesign of floor space as necessary.
    8. Assists other managers in resolving inquiries and providing managerial support; participates in various internal committees assigned by senior management.
    9. Plays a major role in the development and growth of branch management staff through excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with strong delegation skills assuring a highly cross-trained staff.
    10. Engages in business development activities and solicitation of new business prospects; participates in community affairs, business and service organizations, including public speaking; actively involved in instilling and maintaining a positive sales environment through education of the Bank’s products and services; investigates and follows-up on significant changes in status of existing customers; motivates and monitors staff in cross-selling and product presentation compared to goals; meets with customers to discuss needs and outline appropriate Bank services and to resolve problems as necessary; ensures the organization of the branch, coordinating available resources (e.g., staff, materials, etc.) for maximum results; and reviewing marketing strategies in relation to a specific branch’s location and recommending suitable marketing approaches.
    11. Gathers data from customers, internal and outside sources; prepares spreadsheets and analyzes financial information including financial statements and tax returns; contacts customers for additional information and clarification of data.
    12. Compiles data from credit bureaus, conducts industry peer comparisons, performs cash flow analyses and other such tasks and comparisons.
    13. Writes financial reviews and reports; makes recommendation on loan structures and terms to the Chief Credit Officers
    14. Coordinates processing of approved loans; ensures loans are processed according to agreement, customer needs and conform to Bank lending policies; obtains sufficient information and/or documentation from customers; solves problems relative to processing and servicing of loans.
    15. Originates and manages loans in accordance to Bank policies, procedures and federal regulations.
    16. Performs personnel actions including performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and interviewing candidates for employment; supervises the daily activities of branch and courier staff including, but not limited to, effective delegation of assignments, developing work schedules and providing necessary training.
    17. Ensures implementation and compliance to meet security precautions and protect customer deposits, bank assets and staff.
    18. Processes, solves and answers complex customer transactions, problems or inquiries.
    19. Operates computer terminal or personal computer to process account activity, determine balances, and resolve problems within given authority.
    20. Answers telephones and directs callers to proper Bank personnel.
    21. Prepares a variety of routine and special reports as required.
    22. Maintains a superior knowledge of financial industry status and trends.
    23. May open and close the branch vault on occasion.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university; or ten years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work related experience must consist of branch management operations, lending and a supervisory background. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, is required to be applicable to the financial industry.
    • Mastered experience, knowledge and training in progressively responsible branch management and supervisory activities.
    • Experience, knowledge and training in financial statement and tax return preparation typically resulting from a combination of education in accounting, financial and/or credit analysis or related areas.
    • Knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, Bank operational policies and procedures, and the Bank’s products and services.
    • Experience, knowledge and training in all lending activities and terminology.
    • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
    • Proven skills to develop marketing and business development skills with customers.
    • Excellent organization skills with the ability to provide leadership, supervision and training for four or more employees using positive supervisory techniques to ensure maximum productivity; demonstrated ability in organization and delegation skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to cross-sell and explain all Bank products and services with confidence and authority.
    • Advanced loan product knowledge.
    • Advanced knowledge of human resource and labor laws and policies.
    • Basic skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation, including word processing, spreadsheet and account opening software programs.
    • Basic typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
    • Advanced math skills to calculate interest and balance accounts, including, but not limited to the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. The incumbent must also possess the ability to locate routine errors, count currency, coin and negotiable instruments in a timely manner.
    • Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, speak clearly to customers and employees.
    • Thorough understanding of management procedures; ability to plan region activities (setting objectives, developing strategies, budgeting, and developing policies and procedures); initiative to organize various functions necessary to accomplish branch or region activities; effectively staff (selecting, training and developing employees); directing employees towards the desired objectives (delegating, motivating, resolving problems); controlling the function (developing performance standards, measuring results, taking corrective action and rewarding employees as appropriate).
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to work with no supervision while performing duties.
    • Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
    • Current California driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
