Group Branch Manager manages the financial and service performance of a defined group of retail branches in a geographic area. Establishes the strategy, specific goals, and performance levels required for each branch to meet the organizational objectives for the region. Being a Group Branch Manager monitors and analyzes financial and customer activity to understand needs, identify issues, and provide the tools and resources needed to achieve goals. Leads business development and promotional activities in the area and coaches branch managers in tactics to build customer relationships, increase sales, and enhance the bank's presence in the community.     REQUIREMENTS FOR ASSISTANT BRANCH MANAGER

    • High School Diploma / GED required OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Minimum of 2 years experience in store management/operations in a wholesale environment.

    DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES

    Team Management

    1. Establishes, communicates, and models performance expectations for all store team members. Institutes goals for store performance and encourages employees to create self-set goals.

    2. Ensures performance expectations are met by monitoring reports, gathering feedback from customers, and observing performance. Works with employees to facilitate attainment of self-set goals.

    3. Holds employees accountable for store and self-set goals. Performs formal periodic staff meetings. Provides routine informal feedback to manage employee performance. Takes corrective action as necessary and rewards employees when appropriate. May holds individual performance discussions (i.e. “One-On-Ones”) and keeps Branch Manager up to date on team performance.

    4. Ensures team members are up-to-date and knowledgeable regarding store operations and the company as a whole by ensuring meeting attendance, and validating information discussed and obtaining status reports.

    5. Participates in the hiring, recruiting and interview processes to identify qualified candidates within established processes and guidelines.

    6. Ensures team members have the knowledge and skills needed to perform their jobs by providing regular training. Provides learning opportunities to develop employees for promotion.

    7. Assists in ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet business needs by establishing working schedules, and cross-training employees to fill in when needed. Reviews appropriate staffing levels with management to optimize productivity.

    8. Maintains a safe working environment by: communicating safety rules; observing and coaching employees in complying with safety rules; removing safety obstacles; complying with all governmental regulations including OSHA, Worker’s Compensation, Fire, and MSDS; and ensuring all equipment is maintained and operated in a safe manner including the training and certifications of employees designated to operate equipment.

    9. Ensures compliance at the branch level with all company employment policies, and applicable state and federal employment laws.

    10. Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, store operational records, documentation, and employee performance files.

    Business Management and Financial Success

    1. Ensures that sales and profitability goals for the store are in conjunction with management. Executes plans and budgets to meet goals. Regularly monitors performance against goals and takes corrective action where necessary.

    2. Problem solves strategies in order to meet e-commerce sales goals and promotes benefits of online accounts to customers.

    3. Collects and provides new leads and information regarding customer buying habits and needs to Territory Managers and Branch Manager.

    4. Communicates and facilitates local discounting and quoting within company guidelines. Provides feedback to ownership team to fix root cause of pricing errors for local markets.

    5. Utilizes red-yellow reporting to monitor and track customer frequency and purchases.

    6. Assist in managing store inventory to ensure security, accuracy, and ability to meet customer product requirements. Ensures cycle counting program is implemented per established procedures.

    7. Oversees customer product returns and warranty processing, balancing customer requests with company guidelines and procedures.

    8. Assist in overseeing warehouse and delivery operations, including receiving, labeling, put-away and order fulfillment. Monitors delivery schedules to ensure accurate, on-time delivery of orders.

    9. Ensures the security and proper maintenance of all store property, equipment, and other assets by managing security procedures, and implementing a regular schedule of equipment maintenance.

    10. Assists in controlling store operational costs, including labor, supplies, freight, utilities, etc. to ensure overall store profitability.

    11. Ensures that cash drawer is balanced daily, and the daily bank deposit is made.

    12. Ensures Branch Manager is up-to-date and knowledgeable regarding store operations by continually providing information and status reports.

    13. Proactively performs Johnstone training programs; willingly attends webinars and/or lessons to advance product knowledge and encourages team members to do so as well.

    Customer Sales and Service

    1. Ensures customers receive prompt, professional service both in person and over the phone by establishing standards, monitoring interaction quality, and enforcing standards. Works directly with customers, especially during busy times or with key customer accounts.

    2. Assists in managing counter sales transactions and ensures that employees increase sales through add-on and suggestive selling techniques.

    3. Works to support outside and inside sales activity; develops and/or implements sales programs and promotions; follows through on established programs. Provides information regarding customer buying habits and needs to Territory Managers and Branch Manager on a regular basis. Assists in performing outside sales calls, as necessary.

    4. Develops relationships and rapport with customers to establish win-win partnerships and encourages employees to do the same.

    5. Maintains cleanliness and appearance of the showroom, warehouse and exterior of the facility. Ensures displays are updated and rotated regularly by seasonal activity and promotions to increase sales opportunities.

    6. Ensures that customer complaints and disputes are resolved in a timely, professional manner that balances customer requests with business needs.

    7. Maintains and updates product knowledge. Stays informed and educated on product inventory and applicability to help customers with product selection.

    General Results Responsibilities

    1. Adheres to and enforces all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes.

    2. May represent Johnstone Supply at trade associations, events and local chapters.

    3. Assists in any job duty, special project or task assigned by a manager.
