Groundskeeper, Sr. jobs in Somerville, MA

Dana Hall School seeks candidates for the position of Groundskeeper. The individual in this position will be accountable for:

• Maintaining grounds, ensuring a manicured look across campus
• Mowing and trimming grass with equipment
• Maintaining all flower beds on campus, spreading mulch, and pruning trees and shrubs
• Performing fall clean-up, including leaf blowing and removal
• Performing snow and ice removal of roads, parking areas, walkways and entrances as necessary, generally by hand shoveling and sanding
• Performing general maintenance and supporting the operation of power equipment
• Lining athletics fields for events
• Assisting with the set-up and break down of special events across campus
• Assisting with traffic control and parking, as needed
• Providing maintenance coverage approximately every eight weekends, as well as some holidays
• Having a willingness to learn additional tasks and welcoming cross-training opportunities
• Exhibiting pride in keeping all grounds in excellent condition

Candidates must have experience with grounds work and a valid driver’s license. Candidates must have the ability to lift and move items up to 50 lbs., as well as have tolerance for walking, lifting, shoveling, and performing various repetitive physical tasks. This position requires outside job duties in all weather conditions. Candidates must have an ability to work independently or with a team, perform emergency tasks promptly and efficiently, and be customer-focused with a friendly and helpful attitude. Candidates should be able to read, speak and understand English fluently.

This is a 12-month, full-time position reporting to the Director of Facilities and Campus Safety. Hours are 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Team members are required to work approximately every eight weekends from 7 a.m.-noon. All hours are subject to change, and may be adjusted to meet campus needs. Candidates must have the flexibility to work nights and weekends.
