Groundskeeper, Sr. cuts and maintains lawns and grass. Rakes leaves and cares for plants, flowers, trees, and shrubs. Being a Groundskeeper, Sr. determines the appropriate plants or shrubs for walkways or garden areas. Provides grounds maintenance in all seasons. Additionally, Groundskeeper, Sr. is responsible for snow and dirt removal. Keeps the grounds and environment of a facility in a clean, attractive, orderly, safe, and healthy condition. Operates light trucks and assorted power equipment. Performs routine cleaning and maintenance on gardening and grounds equipment. May require horticultural training. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Groundskeeper, Sr. works under moderate supervision. Lilac Hedge Farm is currently seeking property groundskeepers for our 2024 open season from May-October. We are proud to have a family friendly, open space to share with customers that includes a farm stand, ice cream, farm kitchen, bar, free live entertainment, animals, and much more.
Our busiest times are Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays but groundskeeping will occur on Wednesdays or Thursdays additionally.
Responsibilities include:
-Visual inspection of all customer and animal areas, ensuring safe and clean spaces
-Cleaning of guest areas, indoor and outdoor
-Preparing the property for events such as moving tables and chairs, general event setup
-Disposal of trash
-Cleaning of restrooms
-Occasional light maintenance and repair work
-Maintaining a serviceable, can-do attitude
Ideal applicants would have:
-Familiarity with cleaning products, materials, & methods
-6 months experience as a custodian, janitor, and/or dish washer
-Strong organizational skills
-Ability to work as part of a team
-Ability to work efficiently based on priorities
-Willingness to take direction, initiative, and constructive criticism
-Ability to stand 6-10 hours a day, use stairs multiple times a day, and lift 50 pounds
-Reliability and punctuality
-A sense of pride in their work
-Reliable transportation
-Strong work ethic and ability to work in fast paced, occasionally stressful, environments
-Ability to self-motivate, follow lists, and work independently
