Groundskeeper cuts and maintains lawns and grass. Rakes leaves and cares for plants, flowers, trees, and shrubs. Being a Groundskeeper determines the appropriate plants or shrubs for walkways or garden areas. Provides grounds maintenance in all seasons. Additionally, Groundskeeper is responsible for snow and dirt removal. Keeps the grounds and environment of a facility in a clean, attractive, orderly, safe, and healthy condition. Operates light trucks and assorted power equipment. Performs routine cleaning and maintenance on gardening and grounds equipment. May require horticultural training. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Groundskeeper works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area.     Job Description

    Empowered to provide a positive impression to the guests of Chula Vista Resort. Groundskeeper will fulfill the related goals and objectives of the resort while displaying hospitality and professionalism at all times taking pride in representing Chula Vista Resort.

    The primary responsibilities and duties of the position consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Perform the work as assigned on the daily work orders. When applicable report your hours/wages and supplies for billing purposes. Complete all necessary daily paperwork.
    • Work with your co-workers to fulfill training & operational strategies of the department.
    • Assist any and all departments with any jobs that are deemed necessary and a priority across the entire resort.
    • Seek and develop new concepts, products, services and resources for each of the areas.
    • Working with supervisors to oversee the operational effectiveness of the departmental operations, while delivering superior quality service at all times.
    • Set and ensure compliance with standards of quality for all products and services offered by this department and all positions. All standards will be consistent with the goals and objectives already established by the resort as a whole.
    • Maintain the budgets and operational needs consistent with the goals and objectives developed for each of your areas of responsibility.
    • Maintain compliance with all legal requirements, codes, cleanliness and sanitation standards.
    • Work with supervisors and employees to implement the training methods and procedures.
    • Safeguard and protect all company assets in your care.
    • Make decisions in a timely manner.
    • Demonstrate good judgment in investigating and solving problems.
    • Safeguard the confidentiality of customer, company and employee information.
    • Take all opinions and suggestions under advisement before making decisions.
    • Maintain a cooperative working relationship with guests and the entire staff.
    • Handle difficult situations tactfully.
    • Consistently show the ability to recognize and deal with priorities.
    • Meet deadlines for timesensitive activities.
    • Recognize areas of the resort that need attention and report them to your supervisor on a daily basis.

    • Perform all other duties that may be deemed appropriate by your chain of command above you.
    • Create the highest customer satisfaction possible by insuring you and subordinates provide prompt friendly and quality service.

    • Create the highest customer satisfaction possible by having complete knowledge of areas of your operation.
    • Create the highest customer satisfaction possible by having clean, sanitary, organized work areas.
    • You are required to be in uniform at all times.
    • Complete your daily task & duty list and report status to your supervisor.
    • All disciplinary actions will be dealt with on a timely basis.
    • Be available for questions, training, and assistance, as needed.
    • If your personal signature is placed on the invoice acknowledging accurate receipt of inventory, it is your responsibility that the materials have been received and stored. Turn in packing receipt to appropriate personnel.
    • Fill out purchase order requests as required for replacement of inventory
    • Attend staff training seminars as necessary.

     


    Preferred- 1 year grounds experience

    Skills,Knowledge, Abilities:

    Skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job, operation of equipment, and adhere to safety practices. Candidates must be able to work under limited supervision and in outdoor environments with adverse weather conditions or inclement weather.

    Physical Requirements:

    *Must be in good physical condition.

    *Must be able to lift and carry minimum of 50lbs.

    Body Positions:

    Sitting, standing for an extended period of time.

    Body Sense:

    Have full use of eyes and ears, full power of speech.

    Body Movements:

    Walking, turning head and torso, bending arms, wrists, and fingers. A lot of bending movement.

    Mental Requirements:

    Mathematics:

    Must be able to do routine math calculations.

    Language:

    Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, well enough to give instructions, relay information, and carry on effective interchange with customers, vendors, and company staff.
