Groundskeeper cuts and maintains lawns and grass. Rakes leaves and cares for plants, flowers, trees, and shrubs. Being a Groundskeeper determines the appropriate plants or shrubs for walkways or garden areas. Provides grounds maintenance in all seasons. Additionally, Groundskeeper is responsible for snow and dirt removal. Keeps the grounds and environment of a facility in a clean, attractive, orderly, safe, and healthy condition. Operates light trucks and assorted power equipment. Performs routine cleaning and maintenance on gardening and grounds equipment. May require horticultural training. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Groundskeeper works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. What you will be doing:
- Inspects each property daily to ensure cleanliness and visual appeal.
- Uses proper tools and power equipment in a safe manner.
- Maintains an organized and clean mail room.
- Replaces fixtures promptly and as needed.
- Responds to property maintenance requests.
- Installs and moves a variety of appliances.
- Monitors, cleans, and replaces air conditioning vents and filters as needed.
- Inspects and maintains appearance of pool deck.
- Inspects and cleans vacant properties between tenants.
- Assists the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Technician as requested.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
What you will need:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 6 months or less experience in groundskeeping, caretaking, or janitorial tasks.
- Extensive knowledge of landscaping and maintenance techniques and processes.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Possesses a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks efficiently.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to use the required hand tools to complete requests.
- Ability to operate various types of power equipment.
- Ability to work independently and with others.
- Ability to multi-task and complete tasks by required deadlines.
- Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds at a time.
- Ability to walk, reach, stretch, stoop, bend, and use hands and fingers.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Physical stamina to perform physically demanding tasks.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
- Must be physically able to operate maintenance equipment.
- Must be able to attend to after-hour maintenance emergencies as needed.
