The CALPIA (Coffee Roasting and Grinding) program is a (Coffee Roasting and Grinding) program designed to meet California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) institutional needs statewide needs. The Coffee Roasting and Grinding program will train incarcerated individuals with the necessary knowledge and skill level needed to meet the highest possible standards for coffee roasting and grinding. In return CALPIA provides training for a skilled workforce in the private sector upon release, reducing the potential for recidivism.
The PIA is looking to fill an Industrial Supervisor, Prison Industries (Coffee Roasting and Grinding) position at Mule Creek State Prison. Under the supervision of the Prison Industries Superintendent II (Coffee Roasting & Grinding), this position is responsible for instructing and supervising incarcerated individuals in the roasting and grinding of coffee beans and packaging of soluble coffee for sale to CALPIA customers. Also responsible for ordering supplies to ensure availability of products to meet customer needs. The incumbent will serve as acting Superintendent II when necessary.
