Grinding and Polishing Worker, Hand jobs in Parkersburg, WV

PRIMARY PURPOSE

As a Concrete Floor Grinding & Polishing Technician, you will be responsible for preparing, grinding, and polishing concrete floors to achieve desired finishes. This role requires expertise in operating specialized equipment and knowledge of concrete materials and polishing techniques.

RESPONSIBILITY:

• Prepare concrete surfaces for grinding and polishing by cleaning, repairing, and leveling as necessary.
• Operate concrete grinding and polishing equipment, including grinders, polishers, and vacuums, in accordance with safety guidelines.
• Execute grinding and polishing techniques to achieve desired surface flatness, smoothness, and gloss levels.
• Apply dyes, stains, and sealants to enhance the appearance and durability of polished concrete floors.
• Monitor equipment performance and troubleshoot technical issues to maintain operational efficiency.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and equipment.
• Follow safety protocols and regulations to minimize risks of injury and property damage.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational training or certification in concrete polishing is preferred.
• Proven experience as a Concrete Floor Grinding & Polishing Technician or similar role in the construction or flooring industry, including mechanical polishing and hand grinding edges.
• Experience operating grinding and polishing equipment. (i.e. grinders, mixers, scrubbers, vacuums, etc.)
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret technical drawings.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy equipment and materials, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to job sites as requires.
