Grinding and Polishing Worker, Hand jobs in New York

Performs basic receiving and final inspection on simple parts involving attribute gages and calipers in accordance with applicable quality system documentation. May perform first-piece or in-process inspection under the supervision of a higher-grade inspector. Evaluates materials, components and/or assemblies for conformance to specification requirements or established workmanship standards. Applies basic statistical techniques, including sampling plans as defined in ANSI Z1.4 and ANSI Z1.9, to assess product conformance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

In addition to adhering to the policies of the company outlined in the PGM Employee Handbook, an individual serving in this capacity shall be consistently able to:

• Perform receiving inspection of incoming supplies requiring quality assurance evaluation prior to dispatch using the appropriate sampling plan.
• Perform final inspection and test of deliverable product in accordance with documented procedures prior to release for shipment or storage.
• Complete required inspection and test records appropriate to the particular task and results of the inspection.
• Understand Vantage operation for time and data reporting.
• Analyze traveler packets, specification manuals and work instructions for requirements.
• Place parts in a specified relationship relative to each other.
• Work at various stations based on variable and changing production requirements.
• Uses inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, indicators and comparator to inspect work for dimensional integrity.
• Assist other department operators when required or directed.
• Keeps work areas clean and organized.
• Follows company policies as outlines in the employee handbook/values statements.
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

Required Experience:

Education, Training and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
