Grinding and Polishing Worker, Hand jobs in Lawrence, MA

The acrylic finishing technician will perform finishing work on all types of orthodontic appliances according to doctor's prescriptions. This role is 100% hands on and requires a dedication to excellence and craftsmanship. As you gain tenure you are required to learn about basic oral structure, tooth anatomy, tooth numbering systems and a wide variety of basic orthodontic appliances, with many minor variations, and their functions.

This position is from 7 am to 3:30 pm with overtime hours, as needed, in times of increased workload.

Essential Functions:

• Read prescriptions and identify appliance that has been crafted
• Follow detailed directions on how to finish appliances
• Use Biostar machine to make Essix retainers
• Use high speed, hand held finishing tool to smooth out rough edges and define desired form
• Use polishing lathe, steam wand and other tools as needed to polish and buff final product
• Problem solve as needed
• Learn when to ask for assistance and when to independently make decisions
• ‪Work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Keep records of production quantities and time
• Work in a stationary position for several hours at a time
• Use hands and fingers to manipulate materials for several hours at a time
• ‪Exhibit great hand-eye coordination
