Job Details-
The Yard Hand is responsible for stationing and retrieving equipment on the property & making equipment ready for rent or returning equipment from a rental. The yard hand maintains a written maintenance schedule and may service equipment as necessary to ensure equipment meets all set specifications. The Yard Associate also inspects equipment prior to and after rental to document any lost and/or damaged equipment.
The yard hand will work to keep all equipment clean and organized in order to provide our customers reliability, consistency and the highest standards possible. This position requires knowledge of and varied experience with lawn & garden, ag equipment & heavy construction equipment. Work is performed inside in a warehouse environment and outside with regularly fluctuating temperatures.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Diagnosis, Maintenance, and Repair
· Identifies operational issues on construction and support equipment according to provided checklists.
· Performs preventive maintenance and lubrication on all rental fleet.
· Safely performs machine condition inspections and general fleet maintenance.
· Performs minor machine repair and annual inspections, as needed.
Fleet and Yard Maintenance
· Assist customers with rental purchases
· Checks equipment in and out of inventory.
· Schedules major repairs with the service department and monitors progress to maintain optimum rental availability.
· Loads, unloads, and secures rental fleet according to load securement standards.
· Delivers equipment with appropriate trailer size/capacity as needed
· Washes, details, and maintains rental fleet while optimizing yard organization.
· Perform snow removal and grounds maintenance as required.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
· Basic computer/typing skills and ability to learn Microsoft products.
· Working knowledge and experience with basic hand tools.
· Ability to obtain job related certifications for any specialty equipment in rental fleet.
· Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.
· Consistent attendance with the ability to work overtime as needed.
· Working within and promoting Tower Equipment Rental purpose, vision and values.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Experience in equipment operation and diesel mechanics preferred.
· One to Two years of industry experience preferred. (i.e. Rental fleet)
· Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
· Class A CDL, preferred but not required
· Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card and CDL, preferred.
· Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write in English).
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:
· Ability to stand for long periods of time along with walking, sitting, repetitive climbing stairs, reaching (including above-shoulder reaching), repetitive bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, leaning and twisting.
· Exposure to extreme temperatures and environment.
· Ability to lift to 60 lbs.
· Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies.
