Job Summary: The Meat Grinder is responsible for operating and maintaining machinery to grind meat loaves and hashes according to specified particle sizes. This role involves ensuring product quality, adhering to safety and sanitation standards, and performing various tasks related to meat processing.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operate and tend to the meat grinding machine efficiently and safely.
2. Transport cut meat from the cooler room to the grinding machine using a truck.
3. Select and insert appropriate grinding plates in the machine for the desired particle size.
4. Shovel meat into the machine hopper using a fork and position the truck under the discharge spout.
5. Start and monitor the machine during the grinding process to ensure proper operation.
6. Optionally, select and weigh meat in the cooler room before grinding.
7. Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safety protocols.
8. Maintain cleanliness in the work area to ensure personal and product safety.
9. Work in a cool (41 degrees) and wet environment, adhering to established standards.
10. Lift and move loads up to 45 lbs as necessary.
11. Perform repetitive movements over extended periods.
12. Stand for prolonged periods during work shifts.
13. Maintain a high school diploma or equivalent education.
14. Demonstrate basic math skills for measuring and weighing meat.
15. Possess good written and verbal communication skills.
16. Work independently, maintain organization, and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
17. Handle meat products according to specified guidelines.
18. Exhibit effective interpersonal skills in interactions with superiors and peers.
