Position Summary: The Fabric Design Supervisor will play a pivotal role in overseeing the fabric team, ensuring the seamless transition of designs from concept to fabrication. This role involves close collaboration with technical designers, guiding the seamstress and cutters, and ensuring the accuracy and quality of our cabanas and daybed products.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Collaboration:
Work closely with technical designers to ensure designs are optimized for fabrication.
Provide feedback and suggestions to enhance design feasibility and manufacturability.
Review drawings and scope of work prior to delegating to the fabric team.
Material Selection:
Influence the colors used in threads, buckles, velcros, and other fabric-related materials for a high-end look on the fabric.
Ensure that material choices align with company standards and product aesthetics.
Help source items needed for fabrication and/or work closely with the Procurement Manager to procure quality items.
Training & Guidance:
Teach and guide seamstresses and cutters on how to accurately interpret and execute based on design drawings.
Oversee dry fits to ensure the fabric fits as per design specifications.
Conduct kick-off project meetings with the fabric team so that they know what project they will be working on next.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure that all cuts, sews, and fabric-related tasks are executed with precision and accuracy.
Regularly inspect products to ensure they align with design specifications and company quality standards.
Report and complete QC reports.
Scheduling & Reporting:
Manage the daily schedule of the fabric team, ensuring the timely completion of tasks.
Provide daily production updates to relevant stakeholders via Airtable.
Address any production challenges promptly and implement solutions.
Team Leadership:
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Provide regular feedback and training to team members to enhance their skills and productivity.
Task Delegation: Efficiently delegate tasks to team members, ensuring clarity in responsibilities and optimizing workflow for maximum productivity.
Performance Monitoring: Conduct regular check-ins with all staff members to monitor progress, address any issues, and provide continuous support and motivation.
Deadline Management: Ensure the team meets tight production deadlines without compromising on the quality of the output.
Recruitment and Training: Play a key role in the prescreening and recruitment of new team members, as well as in the development and implementation of comprehensive training programs to enhance staff skills and knowledge.
Collaboration with Management: Work closely with upper management to report on project statuses, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making processes.
