Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Supervisor proficient in SolidWorks to oversee our design team's operations. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of supervisory experience managing onsite and remote employees. This role requires expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks software and certification is highly preferred. The Design Supervisor will be responsible for supervising the work of designers, acting as a communication liaison between customers and the production team, reviewing redlines, managing Bill of Materials (BOM), and ensuring seamless collaboration between various departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision and Leadership:
Manage and lead a team of designers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
Coordinate and oversee the work of both onsite and remote employees, ensuring productivity and adherence to deadlines.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback for team development.
SolidWorks Expertise:
Possess expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks software.
Ensure the team's adherence to best practices and standards in SolidWorks design and modeling.
Provide technical support and guidance to team members as needed.
Communication Liaison:
Act as the primary communication link between customers, the design team, and the production team.
Interpret customer requirements and relay them effectively to the design team.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of design objectives with production capabilities and timelines.
Review and Quality Assurance:
Review redlines and ensure accuracy and completeness of design documentation.
Verify the quality of work produced by designers, ensuring compliance with project requirements and standards.
Conduct regular audits to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Bill of Materials (BOM) Management:
Oversee the creation and management of Bill of Materials (BOM) for design projects.
Ensure BOM accuracy, completeness, and alignment with design specifications.
Coordinate with the production team to address any discrepancies or issues related to BOMs.
Collaboration and Coordination:
Facilitate collaboration between the design team and other departments, such as engineering, manufacturing, and procurement.
Participate in cross-functional meetings to discuss project progress, challenges, and solutions.
Work closely with the Production Manager to review Dry Fits, address any open items or issues, and ensure seamless transition from design to production.
Qualifications:
Experience in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience overseeing in-person and remote workers.
Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks software, preferably certified.
Strong understanding of drafting, modeling, and Bill of Materials (BOM) creation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve project objectives.
Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and accuracy.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
