Graphic Design Specialist jobs in Saint Petersburg, FL

This position is for an experienced graphic designer/print production specialist to join our team at The UPS Store in St. Petersburg. The graphic designer/print specialist is a well-rounded individual with a solid knowledge and understanding of graphic design, digital printing, and finishing techniques. The candidate will be responsible for all customer graphic design and print projects, will be experienced in the operation of digital press, multi-function printers and a variety of binding and finishing equipment. The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s or associate degree in visual communication, graphic design, or a related field, have at least 5 years of experience in graphic design and in the print industry, and is skilled in software design programs including the Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator) for both Mac and PC.

Responsibilities:

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
• Creating stunning visuals for print, traditional media, large scale print collateral such as business cards, postcards, brochures, posters, signs, flyers, banners, etc.
• Operate and maintain 4-color press and finishing equipment.
• Efficiently apply print proofs, Pantone color matching and resolution settings.
• Having excellent typesetting skills for print and digital media, including use of design principles such as typography, visual storytelling, color palettes, and variable data.
• Effectively apply knowledge of printing concepts such as color management, paper considerations, file formatting, and output settings.
• Educate customers on business solutions and print product offerings (e.g., digital printing, wide format, business products, specialty products, and binding and finishing services).
• Provide customers with quotes and follow up and consult on complex orders.
• Manage quality control throughout the production process to ensure finished products are correct and meets customer and The UPS Store quality standards.
• Ability to manage and optimize workload, prioritize multiple projects, and streamline the production flow.
• Communicates effectively and continuously practices good listening with customers, co-workers, vendors, and management.
• Understands and fulfills the needs of walk-in customers and telephone/email inquiries.
• Meet with customers to present concepts and adjust designs to fit their needs or taste.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or associate degree in visual communication, graphic design, or a related field required.
• Five years of experience in graphic design or the print industry.
• Expertise with Adobe Creative Cloud suite (Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop).
• Strong computer and internet skills (multiple platforms).
• Skilled in operation and maintenance of digital press, multi-function printers and a variety of binding and finishing equipment.
• Strong understanding of typography, color theory, and composition principles.
• Skilled in copyediting/proofreading and desktop publishing.
• Must demonstrate extreme attention to detail in design work.
• Positive attitude towards our customers, suppliers, management, and co-workers.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
