Job Description

Position Overview 

Torch Technologies invites applications for a Graphic and UI/UX Design Internship for the Summer of 2024. This position is ideal for students passionate about combining artistic creativity with technical skills to enhance user experiences in digital and print media. Interns will engage in creating visual content using typography, photography, illustration, and will be involved in UI/UX design processes, focusing on optimizing visual appeal and user-friendly interfaces. 

Learning Opportunities 

• Develop skills in creating compelling visual content for various media, including brochures, postcards, job aids, and infographics. 

• Gain hands-on experience in website design and video production. 

• Learn about UI design focusing on visual aspects of products and UX design concentrating on user behavior to enhance usability and efficiency. 

• Collaborate with experienced designers and learn to balance artistic vision with practical user interface solutions. 

Duration and Location 

• This is a summer internship, lasting 12 weeks. 

• Huntsville, Alabama 

Key Responsibilities 

• Create and optimize graphic content for digital and print media. 

• Assist in designing user interfaces and improving user experiences for various digital platforms. 

• Conduct user research and usability testing to guide design decisions. 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand design requirements and deliver solutions. 

• Contribute to the development of brochures, graphics, infographics, internal and/or external facing websites, and videos. 

Job Requirements

Qualifications 

• Currently enrolled in a relevant program in Graphic Design, UI/UX Design, Visual Arts, or a related field. 

• Proficient in design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma). 

• Proficient in front-end website development. 

• A strong portfolio showcasing graphic design and UI/UX skills. 

• Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities. 

• Keen eye for aesthetics and detail. 

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively. 

Requirements 

• US Citizen. 

• At least 18 years old. 

• Actively enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited educational institution. 

• In good academic standing with a grade point average of 3.0. 

• Commitment to a full-time schedule during the internship period. 

• Must have portfolio of prior projects worked to show during an interview.
