Ensures each grant-writing project complies with the funder's policies, formats, timelines, reporting, and legal requirements. Additionally, Grants/Proposal Writer may participate in the negotiation of contractual provisions with potential partners. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Grants/Proposal Writer occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.   • Hospice of the Red River Valley is looking for a motivated and successful grant writer. The grant writer will be responsible for locating, researching, and applying for potential funding opportunities in order to ensure successful budget operation. The ideal candidate should have previous experience and proven success in the grant writing field. This employee will be required to provide high-quality grant proposals, contact sponsors, companies, and organizations that offer grants, and submit grants to these locations. This position will be full-time and can be located anywhere within the HRRV service region.     Duties and Responsibilities

    • Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, programs, and financial needs of the organization.
    • Research grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies.
    • Draft grant proposals and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization.
    • Submit proposals to grant coordinators for approval.
    • Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals.
    • Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders.
    • Maintain records and submit reports related to grant opportunities.

    Required skills and qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, or a related field).
    • Proven experience in grant writing, preferably in a nonprofit or academic setting.
    • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a keen attention to detail.
    • Strong research skills, including the ability to gather and synthesize information from multiple sources.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
    • Knowledge of fundraising principles and practices.
    • Familiarity with grant management software and databases is a plus.

    Preferred qualifications

    • Experience writing government grants
    • Experience working on a research team and securing grants
    • Experience with non-profit fundraising a plus
