Grader, Bulldozer, and Scraper Operator operates a specially equipped tractor to gouge out, level, and distribute earth. Prepares land for constructing roads and buildings. Being a Grader, Bulldozer, and Scraper Operator may require a high school diploma or its equivalent. May have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Additionally, Grader, Bulldozer, and Scraper Operator is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. The Class B Operator is considered to be an operator that has moderate experience with all methods of Construction Excavation work. This individual possesses the qualities to operate machinery in a safe and productive manner and will act as a support operator to the Class A Equipment Operator and the rest of the team members. This individual should be able to take direction from the Foreman or the Class A Equipment Operator and perform necessary tasks requested. At all times the operator must be able to maintain a safe work area around themselves and others. He or she should be able to operate efficiently multiple pieces of equipment to include but not limited to. This individual will also be asked to help with pipe installation and other items as needed.

This individual needs to understand that they play an active role with the productivity of the team and at times will not be in the seat. They are a support mechanism to help keep material stocked for a pipe crew while on the job, operate various types of equipment as needed and requested and serve as a backup if a Class A Operator cannot be in attendance. Dependability, accuracy and safety are a must while working as a team member along with an “can do attitude”. The operator may not possess qualities as a fine grade operator but continues to work to improve upon his trade. The individual must be able to recognize situations where proper benching must take place to keep himself the piece of equipment and others out of harm’s way. This individual may be asked by the Foreman to help with utility pipe installation if needed.

Job Safety OSHA and Company Policies
Responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to.
· Ensure all equipment is maintained and used in accordance with company health and safety regulations
o Tracks should be kept clean
o Equipment should be properly greased
o Fluids checked daily
o Daily Equipment Walk around
o Report any items that are in need of repair
· Ensure that there is a miss-utility ticket on the job prior to starting a dig
· Be able to have an understanding of how to read plans and understand and shoot grades
· Ensure equipment is properly positioned before turning it on and of or loading or unloading it.
· Training new crew members in the safe operation of equipment and being a positive role model
· Performing other construction duties as needed
· Ensure that equipment is kept clean
· Ensure that work sites are kept clean and tidy
· Attending meetings and refresher courses to ensure responsible equipment operation
· Identifying site conditions and maintaining a safe work environment
· Maintain a safe work area and ensure that barricades are in place if needed at the completion of work.
· Maintain a positive attitude with the ability to follow directions and work with others
