Grader, Bulldozer, and Scraper Operator operates a specially equipped tractor to gouge out, level, and distribute earth. Prepares land for constructing roads and buildings. Being a Grader, Bulldozer, and Scraper Operator may require a high school diploma or its equivalent. May have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Additionally, Grader, Bulldozer, and Scraper Operator is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Description
· Visually grade lumber of different dimensions and species (primarily Fir and Pine)
· Accurately apply grade and trim rules to optimize lumber value
· Ensure lumber produced is within manufacturing parameters and grade specifications
· Ensure lumber produced is within expected grade yield; take appropriate action(s) to correct when discrepancies are found
· Monitor, clean and/or calibrate any scanning equipment to ensure proper performance
· Help straighten lumber that may be jammed, crossed up or otherwise interrupting the flow of production
Requirements
· 1 WWPA, PLIB, TPI or similar grader certification preferred
· 0-1 year as an apprentice lumber grader or grader trainee in a planer or sawmill
· 1 years in the lumber industry
· An understanding of the American Lumber Standard grading rules
