Government Sales Manager manages and directs a sales force to achieve sales to government agencies. Designs and recommends sales programs and sets short- and long-term sales strategies. Being a Government Sales Manager evaluates and implements appropriate new sales techniques to increase the department's sales volume. May recommend product or service enhancements to improve customer satisfaction and sales potential. Additionally, Government Sales Manager ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Acts as advisor to sales team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to head of a unit/department. The Government Sales Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Government Sales Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The Sr Manager, Government Wireless Sales and Operations drives growth and manages customer retention in the SLED (State, Local, and Education) government and large business segments of C Spire’s wireless customer base. This is done through effective management of the Government and Business Wireless team, which includes sales professionals and sales engineering, direct customer relationship building and management, and identifying opportunities for operational excellence to improve internal policies, procedures, and systems. Responsible for direct employee management of sales, retention, and revenue growth for State of Mississippi agency government accounts and Mississippi local government accounts.

    Responsibilities

    Actively engage as an employee to advocate and be fully committed in supporting our strategic vision to be and become known as the BEST in our industry(s) through:

    1. Responsible for direct management of sales, retention and revenue growth for MS state agency government accounts and MS local government accounts.

  • Implements action plans developed by senior management to grow existing state and local government accounts through new product introductions and needs assessments.
  • Conducts weekly meetings and updates the government team members regarding policies and procedures on all government related items. Trains new government employees re: company policies and procedures.
  • Encourages government reps to build strong working relationships with all government decision makers and influencers that are associated with assigned government accounts.
  • Attends scheduled appointments with government sales team and ensures government account executives meet visitation and contact goals on a scheduled basis.
  • Oversees project management on all aspects of the State of Mississippi Wireless Contract (RFP 3820. Attends all internal project meetings on behalf of the Government Sales Channel and represents the wireless government team as the Subject Matter Expert for Contract No. 3820.
  • Represents C Spire as the escalation contact for internal and external customers regarding government issues associated with Contract No. 3820.
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of Contract No. 3820, USAC/ECF/E-Rate Process, ESSER, and other educational grant processes, and an overall knowledge of the government procurement process for State, Local, and K-12 schools and libraries.
  • Responsible for submission of required reporting associated with Contract No. 3820 to Mississippi Information Technology Services.
    • Assists senior management in maintaining accurate records of all pricing, sales, and activity reports in conjunction with the State of Mississippi Wireless Contract (RFP 3820).
    • Involves senior management and legal department when amendments are necessary for updates in the Wireless Contract #3820.
    • Responsible for creation and implementation of all government wireless policies. Ensure that all policies and procedures related to government contracts are communicated on an ongoing basis to all C Spire sales channels.
    • Assists with team operational tasks, including but not limited to invoice management, billing research, process improvement projects, and product development.
    • Manage the Government Web Portal with changes related to equipment, pricing, products and services.
    • Manages the government equipment prices list.
    • Manages the government Quote Portal.
    • Attends and represents C Spire at monthly and weekly government meetings outside of Corporate Headquarters.
    • Work closely with and acts as the liaison for all C Spire departments involved with the projects for Government Wireless Sales.
    • Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes.
    • Plans and coordinates government meetings, conferences, exhibits, and all details associated with such events.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by senior management.

    Qualifications

  • Proven sales experience required, including sales quota attainment, sales forecasting and appointment setting skills.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in wireless and/or telecommunications industry required.
  • Knowledge and experience with government RFP responses.   
  • Candidates must have excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Candidates must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point).
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preference will be given for those who have established and demonstrated a strong working relationship with State of Mississippi government agencies and/or local government accounts.
  • Preference will be given to those candidates who have a proven ability to manage operational items.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

     

    Must be able to sit for long periods of time, be able to lift 40 lbs., and lift materials. Must be able to use a computer keyboard and/or mouse while viewing computer screen. Some evening or weekend work is required. This position will require overnight travel.
