Government Affairs Manager implements strategic plans and oversees engagement objectives to develop and maintain productive relations with all levels of government authorities that will support and enhance the businesses' goals. Manages teams that build relationships and liaise with government entities(federal, state, provincial, or local) that regulate or influence business activities. Being a Government Affairs Manager performs ongoing monitoring and analysis of proposed legislation, emerging issues, and trends to determine the potential impact on the organization. In coordination with the Executive Director of Community and Government Affairs and the Vice President for Community Engagement, Advocacy & Government Relations, the Manager will participate in the strategic planning and implementation of federal legislative and regulatory activities related to Children's National Medical Center. The Manager will be required to monitor federal legislative and regulatory activities and develop and implement strategies for favorable legislative and regulatory action. Strategy development may include coalition building, legislator education, materials using hospital data and strategic messaging, and preparing testimony and witnesses. Participate in the department's development and activation of grassroots initiatives. The Manager will also serve as a liaison to the Finance Department for matters related to federal legislative and regulatory policy and assist in the implementation of strategies and tactics to benefit Children's National through stable, and sufficient reimbursement levels. Strong knowledge of the federal regulatory agencies and legislative bodies and demonstrated ability to successfully navigate those systems and processes are preferred.
