We are seeking an accomplished, enterprising government relations leader with over 15 years' experience driving policy transformations through bipartisan political channels and public-private partnerships. Serving as the company’s senior representative, you will steer legislative and regulatory strategies to accelerate market adoption of our clean energy and infrastructure technologies.
You bring a breadth of energy policy experience with past leadership roles across renewables, natural gas, hydrogen, utilities, transportation, infrastructure, CCUS, heavy manufacturing verticals. Your track record of collaborating with diverse political administrations is proven through accomplishments like implementation of both red and blue coalitions.
Success in this role requires an intimate understanding of navigating federal, state, and local governance levers across geographies. The ideal candidate will have background working nationwide on primarily state-level energy and decarbonization issues in our key strategic geographies and markets including heavy manufacturing, heavy duty mobility, and gas utilities serving West Coast, Texas, and Rust Belt. Prior roles spearheading policy for industry groups and/or not-for-profits make you adept at rallying diverse political interests like labor and environmental groups behind climate tech and energy progress.
This domestic-focused role requires a motivated self-starter, passionate about driving decarbonization through pragmatic, actionable means – not just idealistic visions. To be successful, you must have a personal drive to proactively build expertise, relationships, and the thought leadership required to position our innovations as critical climate solutions.
Responsibilities Include:
Serve as primary government affairs and public policy contact for hydrogen, hydrogen generation equipment and carbon product areas
Execute regulatory, legal and product initiatives requiring engagement across policy, compliance and regulatory dimensions
Design and lead regional campaigns advancing related business priorities and product/business strategies
Engage officials on strategic agreements, challenging certification standards and impactful legislation
Required Qualifications:
Experience leading policy strategy supporting product development and go-to-market for enterprise-scale clean technologies
Expertise around political issues relating to energy and infrastructure (including utilities, pipelines, meters, roads, etc)
Ability to understand business implications of public policy and to advise product teams
Ability to understand key technical aspects in legislative/regulatory proposals and communicate internal/external impacts
Ability to work alone with minimal oversight
Excellent leadership aptitude and team player able to exercise good judgement despite uncertainty
Experience building policy organizations from scratch in lean startup environments
Experience engaging agencies like Federal: DOE, EPA, Treasury, FERC and State-level: Strategic state energy, economic and environmental offices in CA, OR, IL, MI, NY, MA.
