Golf Superintendent is responsible for overall maintenance and care of the golf course, including turf/grass management, irrigation, and chemical applications (e.g., fertilizer, pesticides) to ensure quality playing conditions. Oversees continued development of golf course during golf season to improve playing conditions and maintenance of course during off-season. Being a Golf Superintendent manage purchasing, replenishment, and inventory of all materials, supplies, and equipment used to maintain golf course. Liaises with the Head Golf Professional on any issues related to golf course operations and maintenance. Additionally, Golf Superintendent typically requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a golf course general manager. The Golf Superintendent manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Golf Superintendent typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Coordinate and supervise all construction activities on-site, including labor team, junior superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
- Ensure adherence to project plans, specifications, and budgets to achieve project goals and objectives.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential issues or delays, and implement proactive solutions to keep projects on track.
- Coordinating with local officials for compliance, permitting, and scheduling inspections.
- Conduct regular site inspections, safety meetings, and quality control checks to maintain a safe and productive work environment.
- Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and internal teams, to ensure alignment and collaboration.
- Provide leadership and direction to project teams, motivating and empowering them to deliver high-quality workmanship and exceptional results.
The ideal candidate should possess:- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in construction, with a proven track record of 3-5 years as a commercial superintendent roles.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, techniques, and best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and resolve conflicts.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- OSHA 30-Hour certification and other relevant certifications preferred.
- Degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor tasks as needed.
- Experience operating machinery, forklift, lull, scissor lift, skid steer, etc.
