Golf Superintendent is responsible for overall maintenance and care of the golf course, including turf/grass management, irrigation, and chemical applications (e.g., fertilizer, pesticides) to ensure quality playing conditions. Oversees continued development of golf course during golf season to improve playing conditions and maintenance of course during off-season. Being a Golf Superintendent manage purchasing, replenishment, and inventory of all materials, supplies, and equipment used to maintain golf course. Liaises with the Head Golf Professional on any issues related to golf course operations and maintenance. Additionally, Golf Superintendent typically requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a golf course general manager. The Golf Superintendent manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Superintendent to oversee the maintenance and care of our golf course in Ballston Spa. As a Superintendent, you will be responsible for supervising a team of course staff, ensuring the proper upkeep of greens, fairways,tees and irrigation systems.
Duties:
- Lead and supervise a team of grounds staff in performing various tasks related to landscape maintenance
- Plan and schedule daily work assignments for the team
- Coordinate with general manager to understand specific needs and preferences
- Perform regular inspections to ensure quality control and adherence to safety standards
- Oversee the maintenance of the golf course to include, lawns, trees, and irrigation systems
- Provide guidance on proper planting techniques, pruning methods, and pest control measures
- Monitor and maintain equipment inventory and ensure proper functioning of tools and machinery
- Collaborate with vendors to source necessary materials and supplies
- Keep accurate records of work performed, including time sheets, inventory logs, and maintenance reports
Experience:
- Proven experience in a leadership role within the landscaping industry
- Strong knowledge of Golf course care, tree care, lawn care, and landscape maintenance practices
- Ability to effectively supervise and motivate a team
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Proficient in operating landscaping equipment and machinery
Skills:
- Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve desired outcomes
- Supervising: Experience in supervising a group atmosphere.
- Maintain: Ability to oversee the maintenance of gardens, lawns, trees, and irrigation system.
New York State pesticide license is required and degree in agronomy is a preferred experience.
