Golf Superintendent is responsible for overall maintenance and care of the golf course, including turf/grass management, irrigation, and chemical applications (e.g., fertilizer, pesticides) to ensure quality playing conditions. Oversees continued development of golf course during golf season to improve playing conditions and maintenance of course during off-season. Being a Golf Superintendent manage purchasing, replenishment, and inventory of all materials, supplies, and equipment used to maintain golf course. Liaises with the Head Golf Professional on any issues related to golf course operations and maintenance. Additionally, Golf Superintendent typically requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a golf course general manager. The Golf Superintendent manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Golf Course Development and Maintenance:
· Assist in golf course construction and grow-in phases.
· Manage maintenance operations to ensure exceptional playing conditions, aligning with our quality standards.
· Supervise the care of drainage, irrigation, and water systems.
2. Budgeting and Operational Planning:
· Help prepare the annual maintenance budget and operational plan, adhering to fiscal discipline and company policies.
· Organize staffing schedules to maintain quality while ensuring cost efficiency.
3. Team Supervision and Management:
· Lead and develop the Maintenance Foreman, Spray Tech, and other critical personnel.
· Oversee recruitment, training, and performance evaluations, fostering a professional work environment.
· Enforce compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
4. Agronomy and Plant Care:
· Direct turf, plant, and tree care activities, including planting, fertilization, and pest control.
· Assist in the creation and execution of comprehensive care programs.
5. Equipment and Facility Management:
· Oversee equipment maintenance and repair and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
· Ensure cleanliness and organization of all facility areas.
6. Administrative and Reporting Duties:
· Keep accurate operational records and manage report submissions on time.
· Monitor purchasing and inventory for optimal resource use.
7. Professional Development and Industry Engagement:
· Engage in continuous learning and participate in industry associations to stay abreast of developments.
