Golf Superintendent is responsible for overall maintenance and care of the golf course, including turf/grass management, irrigation, and chemical applications (e.g., fertilizer, pesticides) to ensure quality playing conditions. Oversees continued development of golf course during golf season to improve playing conditions and maintenance of course during off-season. Being a Golf Superintendent manage purchasing, replenishment, and inventory of all materials, supplies, and equipment used to maintain golf course. Liaises with the Head Golf Professional on any issues related to golf course operations and maintenance. Additionally, Golf Superintendent typically requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a golf course general manager. The Golf Superintendent manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions.     Chardonnay Golf Club seeks an experienced Golf Course Superintendent.

    The Role: Maintain the appearance and safety of the course by diagnosing and treating agronomic issues; supervising irrigation scheduling and repairs; maintaining a wide variety of turf grasses in extreme climatic conditions; managing course preparations for tournament and daily play; integrating environmental programs specializing in IPM (Integrated Pest Management); overseeing maintenance of the golf cart fleet; coordinating, scheduling, and supervising capital improvement projects. Maintenance budget including labor $1,225,000

    Manage maintenance operations involved in providing maintenance of greens, fairways, tees, sand traps, bodies of water, roughs, maintenance shop, golf carts, clubhouse, entryways, Audubon Certification and community outreach programs; responsibility for the selection, training, assignment and assessment and development of maintenance staff, providing corrective action as needed; team building, holding safety meetings to ensure the highest level of safety for all maintenance staff. Effectively lead staff to ensure a quality product. Ensure daily course set up meets company and USGA playing standards. Continually follow up to ensure tasks are being completed timely and to the appropriate standards and that equipment is set up and operating properly.

    CourseCo, Inc is seeking qualified superintendents who are Class A GCSAA members for the Chardonnay Golf Club, located in American Canyon, CA. The course is a year-round 18-hole, with 45,000 plus annual rounds.

    Experience:

    Poa annua/bentgrass greens (push up). Written and verbal skills are important. Must have strong relationship building skills, strong hiring, selection and culture building skills. Excellent people skills: you will interface with the City, Golf Committees, and the community. Your passion for the environmental management will assist you in obtaining Audubon Certification.

    Benefits: Annual Salary between $100,000 to $115,000- Health Insurance, annual vacation, bonus, golf privileges, GCSAAA membership. Expenses for regional and national seminars, local chapter conferences and meetings, and the Golf Industry Show. Dues for local chapter membership.

    The Superintendent will report directly to the golf course general manager and will work in partnership with the GM to assure the successful operation of the golf course.

    SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

    The Golf Course Superintendent provides support and leadership to the Golf Course Maintenance department. This position is responsible for managing the maintenance of the golf course and the servicing and repair of turf grass maintenance and construction equipment, the irrigation system, and the maintenance facility. Furthermore, the Golf Course Superintendent will be responsible for keeping detailed records and preparing annual budgets and reports for the Golf Course Maintenance department. The Golf Course Superintendent collaborates with the General Manager in the successful growth and operations of the company.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Promote Financial Stability

    · Prepare and present the annual golf course maintenance budget.

    · Develop capital improvement plans and corresponding budgets.

    · Procure supplies and materials within budgetary limits.

    · Approve invoices for payment.

    · Monitor departmental fiscal performance.

    Foster Teamwork and Cohesiveness

    · Supervise, train, and review all Golf Course Maintenance staff.

    · Plan, organize, and direct all construction projects including, but not limited to, greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, golf cart paths, and the irrigation system.

    · Supervise and participate in:

    Ø the maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and related areas.

    Ø the planting and cultural practices involved with growing various turf grasses, trees, and ornamental plants.

    Ø the efficient operation of an equipment service and repair shop.

    Ø the general upkeep of the maintenance facility.

    · Develop and present the annual golf course maintenance plan.

    · Conduct departmental meetings as needed.

    · Attend management teams meetings as required.

    Ensure Company and Regulatory Compliance

    · Maintain records of annual golf course maintenance activities and costs.

    · Oversee the Golf Course Maintenance department’s adherence to the environmental management plan, including recycling and refuse collection.

    · Maintain Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) license for the State of Oregon.

    Build Positive Relationships with the Community

    · Display a professional appearance and attitude, remaining courteous to guests at all times.

    · Foster professional relationships with vendors and wholesalers.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

    · BA, BS, or AA in agronomy/horticulture/plant/soil science from an accredited college/university or equivalent.

    · Experience in all phases of golf course management and turf culture.

    · Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) license for the State of Oregon.

    · Participatory knowledge of the game of golf and its rules.

    · Effective communication skills to enhance internal and external relationships.

    · Thorough knowledge of:

    Ø the construction, establishment, and maintenance practices involved with golf course greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.

    Ø the planting and culture of golf course turf grasses.

    Ø the planting, cultivation, and pruning of ornamental plants, shrubs, and trees.

    Ø the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners.

    Ø pest control methods and materials.

    Ø drainage methods.

    Ø watering practices and irrigation systems, including wells, pumps, and automatic controls.

    Ø the operation, service, and repair of light and heavy construction and maintenance equipment.

    · General knowledge of the construction and maintenance needs of the maintenance facility, shelters, fences, bridges, golf cart paths, service roads, parking lots, ponds, and streams.

    · Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, and Access.
