Golf Superintendent - Assistant assists the Superintendent in the overall maintenance and care of the golf course, including turf/grass management, irrigation, and chemical applications (e.g., fertilizer, pesticides) to ensure quality playing conditions. Supervises personnel and participates in the maintenance of the golf course tees, greens, fairways, and cart paths. Being a Golf Superintendent - Assistant ensures adherence to golf course maintenance budget and capital plans. May serve in the Superintendent's capacity during absence. Additionally, Golf Superintendent - Assistant may require an associate degree. Typically reports to a golf course superintendent. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Primary Responsibilities: (guest interaction, ordering responsibilities, clean up duties, clerical responsibilities, etc.)
· Book and confirm all group golf reservations and plan events
· Daily inspections of golf shop, outside operations and locker rooms
· Marketing and promotion of member and outside events
· Will assist Head Professional with tournament operations
· Develop basic knowledge of resort staff roles in golf events – Central Reservations, Food & Beverage, Sales & Marketing, Conference Services and Golf Maintenance
· Manage golf shop in absence of Golf Retail Manager
· Hard good special orders

Secondary Responsibilities:
· Act as a Member’s Concierge
· Oversee golf operation in absence of Head Professional
· Contribute articles for monthly Member’s newsletter

Normal Working Hours: (Shift, days)
· 6:30am-4:30pm, 10:00am-8:00pm

· Basic knowledge of golf shop, teaching, merchandising
· Extensive experience with golf tournament operations
Educational Requirements: (Degree/Certification, highest required/preferred, field of study)
· High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Communication Skills Requirements: (Verbal: phone, in-person, group; Written: memos, documents)
· Able to communicate in a professional manner with guests verbally and in writing
· Proven record of providing excellent customer service and ability to conduct daily service audits
· Able to handle difficult guest problems
Technical Requirements:
· Knowledge of golf swing
· Knowledge of the game of golf and its rules
· PGA Apprentice Level 3 or PGA Member, 9 months, 55-60 hours per week
· Complete PGA requirements (if not a member)
· Thorough understanding of all areas of golf operation – job descriptions, logistics, policies, procedures and schedules
· Thorough understanding of Greenbrier and Forbes Service Standards and ability to coach other staff members
