Golf Superintendent - Assistant assists the Superintendent in the overall maintenance and care of the golf course, including turf/grass management, irrigation, and chemical applications (e.g., fertilizer, pesticides) to ensure quality playing conditions. Supervises personnel and participates in the maintenance of the golf course tees, greens, fairways, and cart paths. Being a Golf Superintendent - Assistant ensures adherence to golf course maintenance budget and capital plans. May serve in the Superintendent's capacity during absence. Additionally, Golf Superintendent - Assistant may require an associate degree. Typically reports to a golf course superintendent. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Job Summary
Assist in the day-to-day maintenance operations of Mountain Greens Golf Course and Woodstone Meadows Golf Course. Work with the Superintendent and staff to provide exceptional course conditions and customer service on both golf courses of Massanutten Resort. Promote a safety-first culture through training and education of employees. High school diploma (or equivalent) is required, college degree preferred, as is extensive experience in a turfgrass related field. Must have a valid commercial pesticide applicator permit for ornamental and turf pest control issued by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (or be able to get it within 6 months of hire). Physical requirements such as stooping, bending, and lifting an average weight of 30 pounds are also needed.
