Golf Superintendent - Assistant assists the Superintendent in the overall maintenance and care of the golf course, including turf/grass management, irrigation, and chemical applications (e.g., fertilizer, pesticides) to ensure quality playing conditions. Supervises personnel and participates in the maintenance of the golf course tees, greens, fairways, and cart paths. Being a Golf Superintendent - Assistant ensures adherence to golf course maintenance budget and capital plans. May serve in the Superintendent's capacity during absence. Additionally, Golf Superintendent - Assistant may require an associate degree. Typically reports to a golf course superintendent. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent directs and participates in the maintenance of the golf course. Supervises the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment. Assists with all aspects of the irrigation system maintenance and operation.

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
WORK HOURS AND CONDITIONS
Work hours may include early mornings and evenings on weekdays, weekends and holidays. Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. May be exposed to inclement (non-threatening) weather, plant protection products, fertilizers, misdirected golf balls, and sharp and rapid equipment movement on a daily basis. Injury may result as a result of exposure to the above if safety policies and practices are not properly followed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1. Two or four-year turf grass management degree or related field preferred.
2. Minimum two years’ experience in golf course maintenance crew preferably in a supervisory role.
3. Basic understanding of irrigation system operation/repair.
4. Previous fertilizer, pesticide and herbicide application/calibration experience preferred.
